Parenting@Work is Active Parenting
Parenting in Singapore and even the whole of Asia will take on a new emphasis in the 21st Century. More Parents will be educated, and likely to be working parents, leaving the children to be taken care by other caregivers other than themselves. Challenges exist, and any parenting tip that is able to eliminate or reduce the challenges is most welcome.
Everyone set of parents-to-be is excited when a baby is on the way. We start to plan for the hospital for your child to be born in, the design of the bedroom, the clothes to buy, the names to call him or her; maybe think what children education you want to provide, consider how you want to discipline and train your child, think of the games and sports you want to involve your child, plan for family time to develop a wonderful relationship with your child, etc..
Active Parenting is what most parents would aspire to do. However, with today's demand on the parents to provide for the family, many families today are two-income families. After bringing the children into the world, we work hard to provide them the material needs. There seems to be lesser time spent to meet their emotional and psychological needs. The development of our children seems to fall into the hands of their teachers, coaches, even friends...and some have even entrusted it to their domestic helpers. As parents, though wanting to be active has been reduced to only actively providing for their material needs
Parenting@Work provides practical parenting tips, information, strategies, and success stories which will encourage and help parents pick themselves up to learn and be involved and active parents in the lives of their children. It will be an oasis of resource for parents to visit and be refreshed, and move forward to help their children.
To your parenting joy and success,
Editor
