Bill Gate's Vision

Bill Gate had a vision as a teenager that every business and household should have a computer. The realization of Bill Gates' vision has changed the computing world.  With the introduction of the Computer as a tool, has brought tremendous change and challenges to the lives of both parents and children. 

This technology has brought about wonderful benefits into the lives of many people.  However, the reverse is true also, as many have exploited the use of the computer for their own crooked gains, and some have simply found themselves distanced from parents and friends, as they spend more time on their computers.

Challenges Parents Face

I have met parents coming to me to ask almost the same issue after my talk on "Computer Addiction".  They tell me that their children are spending too much time on the computer, and neglecting their studies.  Their grades are getting from bad to worse.  They would rather spend time on the computer than with family members.  It list goes on and on.  Some have resorted to requesting me to talk to their children. 

Computer and Internet

Like it or not, the computer is here to stay.  WIth the computer, there is another extremely powerful tool that is inevitable in our lives today.  The INTERNET!  The growth in internet users is increasing at an alarming rate.  Ten years back, we cannot imagine that the whole world can be connected with such a technology.  In Asia alone we are looking at close to 400 million people connected to the Internet.  These are using it to search for information, business, studies, games, communication, etc.... This figures are expected to rise until the whole world is one big network.
